He's got five rules
And she's aiming to break them allRodeo producer Cole Jacobs has his hands full running Jacobs Livestock. He can't afford to lose a single cowboy, so when Cousin Violet offers to send along a more-than-capable replacement, he's got no choice but to accept. He expects a grizzled Texas good ol' boy.
He gets Shawnee Pickett.
Wild and outspoken, ruthlessly self-reliant, Shawnee's not looking for anything but a good time. It doesn't matter how quickly the tall, dark and intense cowboy gets under her skin-Cole deserves something real, and Shawnee can't promise him forever. Life's got a way of kicking her in the teeth, and she's got her bags packed before tragedy can knock her down. Too bad Cole's not the type to give up when the going gets tough...

I received this book for free from Hoopla in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Kari Lynn Dell has quickly become one of my new favorite authors. I was intrigued by Cole and the fact he’s autistic from the previous books, so when his story was released, I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out. Ms. Dell did not disappoint as she pulled on every heartstring this reader owned. There were times during the book that I simply wanted to hug Cole and Shawnee.
What I liked most about Tough in Texas is that the author wasn’t afraid to tackle the tough subjects – cancer, autism, the loss of loved ones, anxiety, fear, and crappy, self-centered parents who couldn’t be redeemed. All of these subjects were real and came to life in Tough in Texas. Not only will they open your eyes as a reader, but will also pull on your heartstrings.
The chemistry between Cole and Shawnee is off the charts and absolutely adorable. The secondary characters continue to grow in the series and Ms. Dell continues to keep you updated on previous characters, which I absolutely love. I can’t wait to see what happens with Hank and that’s all I’m going to say.
If you haven’t checked out Kari Lynn Dell’s Texas Rodeo series, then you are definitely missing out. I love this series.
