EXPLOSIVE. INTENSE. DANGEROUS. In book three of Laura Kaye’s Hard Ink series, chaos rings in with a vengeance. As the team digs deeper and discovers more about their enemy and Becca’s father’s role in this fiasco known as their lives, the passion amps up, the danger roars, and Derek DiMarzio and Emilie Garza must determine not only who’s friend and who’s foe, but also whether or not to trust one another.
Nick and the team are the closest they’ve been to unraveling some of the secrets behind their dishonorable discharge from the military. However, in order to find out more, they’re going to need Derek’s charm and technology skills to get under Emilie Garza’s skin. They know her brother is involved with some bad people and may know more about the situation that caused them to be disavowed by the government. So now, they need an in to help them make contact or at least to snoop around and Emilie is that meal ticket. At least, that’s how it begins. Will Emilie go with her instincts and trust Derek, or will she become another victim?
Derek DiMarzio is intelligent, wounded, but has the most positive attitude a man could have given everything he’s been through. He’s determined to survive and prove to his friends once again that he’s no one’s liability. What starts out as an avenue to gain more information about Emilie’s brother turns into so much more with a flip of a dime. Not only is Derek attracted to Emilie, but he’s also protective towards her and will eliminate anyone who tries to harm her, including her own brother. As the passion between Derek and Emilie escalates, along with the danger and attacks from all sides, the team is put to the test.
The secrets that are revealed in this installment is simply mind-blowing. Ms. Kaye had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book, which I devoured in one sitting. Not only is the sex smoking hot – and for the record, I’d switch places with Emilie in a heartbeat – but the suspense is exhilarating. I can’t wait to find out what happens next in Charlie and Jeremy’s story, Hard To Be Good because it’s guaranteed to be a dozy.
Laura Kaye has penned an adrenaline pumping, heart palpitating, story with smoking hot sex, engaging characters, and enough suspense to keep this reader coming back for more. Two thumbs up for Hard To Come By by Laura Kaye.
