Summary:
Bozka Metjka, better known as Mistress Olivia, has everything she’s ever wanted: a successful BDSM club, wonderful friends, and as many horny subs as she wants begging at her feet for the privilege of pleasing her. But now approaching her fortieth birthday, she realizes that something is missing: her Joie de Vivre – and she knows just the man to bring it back – a security consultant, twelve years her junior, who claims there’s not a submissive bone in his body.
While Jude Larson won’t deny the effect the little brunette has on him, he’s in serious denial of his submissive nature. So what if he deliberately wagers against the lovely Domme in hopes of losing so he can spend a little bit of quality time with her? That doesn’t make him submissive does it? All too soon he’s going to find out when danger stalks Olivia’s club and he’s called on to protect the sexy Domme of his dreams from danger.
Blackraven’s Review:
I must admit that I’ve been waiting for Jude and Olivia’s story. Once again Ms. Trace delves into the BDSM lifestyle with finesse and sensual BDSM scenes that sizzle.
Mistress Olivia is a strong, stubborn, caring Domme who’s past continues to prevent her from going after what she truly wants in life. That is until she meets Jude Larson. The sexual chemistry between these two is explosive and the witty banter is at times humorous. It was interesting to watch the dynamics between Mistress Olivia, Micah, who is her play sub, and Jude as the story progressed and their feelings for one another deepened.
Jude has led a complex life in which the people who should have cared about him the most has judged him somewhat harshly regarding his sexual needs. Ms. Trace does a wonderful job of showing how one submissive can help another embrace not only their sexuality, but also their need to submit and be proud of participating in the lifestyle. I loved Jude’s daughter who at five years old was intelligent, precocious, and simply a delight anytime that she was mentioned in the book. This not only allowed more insight into Jude, but also Jude and Olivia’s relationship as it blossomed.
While I enjoyed Conquering Jude, there were a few things in the story that bothered me and I thought could have been fleshed out better. My first niggle involves the danger that Olivia found herself in during the story. As quickly as this part of the plot was introduced, it was resolved without providing the reader with enough detail as to why the threat existed to begin with. Second, there were some editing problems that needed to be addressed throughout the book. While it wasn’t enough to deter me from finishing the story, there were more errors than I’m used to seeing in Ms. Trace’s work. Finally, the relationship between Olivia and Micah left me somewhat disappointed in Olivia. It was obvious how Micah felt about Olivia and that she was aware of it, but there were times that I felt like once she and Jude finally became a couple, Micah became more of an after thought or third wheel. Even when she gave a hint that her feelings had changed and grown for Micah, she did nothing to let her sub know that which made me question her ability as a Domme, but that’s just my opinion.
The secondary characters from the previous stories not only helped the story progressed, but also provided that extra layer of depth that keeps you begging for more from this series. They were all truly a delight and I can’t wait for Rena and Jackson’s story because it is going to be hot. Those two are simply dynamite waiting to explode and will destroy everything in it’s path until they find their Happily Ever After together whether Rena likes it or not.
Conquering Jude is a sensual, captivating story packed with engaging characters who are flawed, yet lovable, sensual BDSM scenes that will make you swoon, secondary characters who will make you laugh because of their witty banter, and enough intense passion to make you embrace your fears in order to find a Happily Ever After. With that said…if you haven’t picked up Dakota Trace’s Doms of Chicago series, then you’re definitely missing out.
