Dutch’s Boy by Xavier Axelson is a finely written coming of age story about a young man whose time has come to break free from his overbearing, larger than life and wildly successful saddle bronc ridin’ daddy, Dutch. With his mama and best friend Reb Alistair’s encouragement, Harry Reynolds leaves the family ranch to begin his career on the rodeo circuit.

Harry and Reb are wonderfully crafted, three-dimensional protagonists. Best friends for most of their lives, Reb and Harry share a secret attraction for one another. When they discover their mutual passion, they eagerly and exuberantly explore their burgeoning sexuality, and the resulting sex scenes are blazing hot.

Dutch’s Boy by Xavier Axelson is a wonderful story about the importance of following your dreams, and the unavoidable separation that occurs when children grow up and strike out on their own. The inevitable showdown between Dutch and Harry takes an unexpected, yet satisfying turn. Harry and Reb’s heartwarming and sexy relationship unquestionably appeals to the reader’s romantic side, and the ending of their story is absolute perfection.
