Summary:
One sub to please the Master…in any way he wishes.
Victor Connagher is no stranger to the Dallas BDSM scene. As CEO of a risqué cable channel that caters to adventurous adults, he ensures the lifestyle is portrayed in a positive light. He even supports a local bondage club. Yet behind the cool, confident mask, Victor lives in fear.
Once, and only once, he lost control of his inner Dom—and it cost him his fiancée. Now, no one knows how hard he works to keep his darker appetite for pain buried. No matter how much his saucy, confident associate producer makes his fingers itch to once again take up his riding crop.
Shiloh Holmes is a sub, but she’s no doormat. She’s always suspected Victor has the skills to feed her insatiable need for pain, and now she’s found the perfect way to crack his formidable control. Develop a new reality show, America’s Next Top sub…and dare him to compete.
Week after week, as Shiloh fearlessly challenges the real Victor to come out of hiding, he realizes his past mistake was only a blow to his pride. If he loses Shiloh, he could lose his heart.
MacKenzie’s Review:
Wow, is what I have to say about Hurt Me So Good by Joely Sue Burkhart. I could kick myself for not reading this the day that it came out. This is an outstanding story with a well-developed plot and intriguing characters with multi-dimensional personalities. I can truly think of nothing negative to say about this story.
What a bold choice going for the sadist and masochistic storyline with such drama and fervor. Ms. Burkhart has certainly put herself in a class above the rest with this story. To be able to write such intensity, emotion and drama, and to have the characters remain loving and devoted, was amazing to see. It’s so rare in these types of storylines and that’s a sad thing. I wish more authors were willing to put their skills to the test this way, but I have a feeling the results would be nowhere close to the same.
The scenes were beautifully laid out. I felt as if I were in the room with these characters. The drama and interplay from the reality show to their personal lives moved the story forward at every turn rather than stalling it out or becoming tedious.
The BDSM scenes were smoking hot; the tender moments were utter bliss; the entire package was a sumptuous treat.
I’m not sure that I’ve read a story by Joely Sue Burkhart before, but I can guarantee I’ll be on the lookout now! If you enjoy this genre at all, by all means do not hesitate to pick up Hurt Me So Good. I can’t imagine you could be disappointed…unless you don’t like fantastic, unique plots, with strong characters and beyond hot BDSM scenes.
I truly hope we get more from the VCONN gang in the future. Any hope for a book two down the road?
