Author Review: Running in Fear: Coming Home by Trinity Blacio

Running in Fear: Coming Home by Trinity Blacio
Publisher: Ravenous Romance
Genre: Contemporary, Ménage, Erotic, Romance
Length: 192 pages

Summary:

Jaycee Manz stared out at the crowd gathered around her. Everyone who was important to her was there celebrating with her. Jaycee realized now that for the past few weeks she had been surrounded by her family, but could never see it, until this night. Now, all she had to do was to find home.

Remi LeBlathe sat back in his chair and watched his small mate, Jaycee. Her days of running were over, and for once her smile reached her eyes. No matter what it took, he promised right then and there he would continue to keep that smile on her face, even if he had to kill to do it.

Dane and Mark Glassgo stood together, always alert for anyone who would threaten their mate, Jaycee. Dane knew the threats weren’t over, but he still didn’t know who would come at them next. Mark had never seen Remi so relaxed. He smiled and knew under that mask was a man who took no crap from anyone, including Mark. Jaycee owned all their hearts, but Remi was the glue that kept all of them together. With the four of them together, no one would dare step in their way. At least, Remi hoped so. They all deserved to have a normal life, a home.

But can they achieve the loving home they all deserve, or will the forces of evil stand in their way yet again? In this third installment of Trinity Blacio’s best-selling series, these four lovers must find their way home…despite the odds.

Trixie’s Review:

Jaycee can almost finally relax now that her men have gotten it through their thick skulls that she has needs and desires and they work at becoming a unit with her instead of strutting their big, bad, Alpha selves around. Problem is, she faces more evil before she can enjoy the good that will come from her new family’s uniting with other shifter families. I don’t recall any heroine ever having so many negative events happen to her as Jaycee must face.

Ms. Blacio’s third novel in the Running in Fear series, Coming Home turns out to be like the saying that reiterates that coming home isn’t always what it is cracked up to be. Readers who have followed this series will be delighted to know that finally Jaycee will be able to find happiness at the book’s end as we await her return in book 5. Several erotic sex scenes will have you fanning yourself, while numerous others leave you wishing for more emotional tug and consistency. There are still several plot lines that move too quickly for the reader to follow, but the writing brings full circle the story and the reader will truly appreciate all questions finally being answered.

Trixie’s Review:

With this being the second book in the Running in Fear series, we meet Jaycee and her three male mates once again as they embark on a new relationship together. Jaycee appears to be at ease with the fact that her previous mate was killed and she is now in love with his brother.

While the sex among the four of these shapeshifters is at times scorchingly intense, there are numerous moments where the intercourse appears to be there just for sex’s sake and is nothing more than a fest of bodies doing the wild thing. It is difficult to feel for any of the characters because the plot line changes so randomly and rapidly, often times without focus.

There is a good story line here, but it is often lost with the random acts of skin slapping, Jaycee’s constant leaving and her mates’ indifferent attitude to her needs as a female. Ms. Blacio has a knack for thinking outside the box while incorporating shifters of different species into a believable family. The randomness and numerous mistakes of identity and spelling make this book difficult to keep up with enjoyably.
