Summary:

Stefan Joss just can’t win. Not only does he have to go to Texas in the middle of summer to be the man of honor in his best friend Charlotte’s wedding, but he’s expected to negotiate a million-dollar business deal at the same time. Worst of all, he’s thrown for a loop when he arrives to see the one man Charlotte promised wouldn’t be there: her brother, Rand Holloway.

Stefan and Rand have been mortal enemies since the day they met, so Stefan is shocked when a temporary cease-fire sees the usual hostility replaced by instant chemistry. Though leery of the unexpected feelings, Stefan is swayed by a sincere revelation from Rand, and he decides to give Rand a chance.

But their budding romance is threatened when Stefan’s business deal goes wrong: the owner of the last ranch he needs to secure for the company is murdered. Stefan’s in for the surprise of his life as he finds himself in danger as well.

Helen’s Review:

There’s just something about a Mary Calmes book that I really love. I always find them to be an entertaining read. Timing to me, is one of those books.

The plot has a few twists and turns that in real life are not at all plausible but that didn’t worry me one bit. I just considered it to be a fun plot and rode with it. I wanted to be entertained and Timing by Mary Calmes certainly delivered!

As usual Ms Calmes’ characters steal the show. Yes, the main characters were reminiscent of some of Ms Calmes previous characters but that is exactly why I liked this book. Stefan is such a likeable little spitfire, he has his faults and they, along with all his good points make him a well rounded character. Rand also has his good and bad points and in his own way is just as likeable. The back and forth bantering between these two and also the secondary characters is very funny and had me laughing many times.

There is definitely a very fine line between hate and love, I enjoyed watching Stefan and Rand work through past hurts and differences after they decided to call a truce for the wedding. These two are perfect together, and it’s fun going along for the ride while they work this out for themselves.

Warning: Although no details are mentioned, this book does refer to a violent rape/murder that happened in the past. There are no details to the rape given but the violence that occurred afterwards is mentioned.
