Author Review: Ballroom Blitz by Lorelei James

Ballroom Blitz by Lorelei James
Series: A Two To Tango Story
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance
Length: 142 pages

Amazon Kindle   Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

She’s got the rhythm, but he’s got all the right moves.

A Two to Tango Story

After years on the road, rock drummer Jon White Feather is home from tour to reassess his music career. When his shy niece begs him to take a ballroom dancing class, Jon agrees, aware he’s not Fred Astaire material. Still, it stings when his sexy-hot instructor—who makes his heart do the cha-cha—deals his ego a low blow: he has no rhythm.

Maggie Buchanan is doing everything to make ends meet since her IT career fizzled, including teaching couples dancing at the community center. She’s prepared for anything—except her immediate attraction to the bad boy rocker who doesn’t know his right foot from his left.

As Jon sets out to prove he can rock his body—and hers—their sexual chemistry burns a path across the dance floor, straight to the bedroom. And Maggie wasn’t expecting a man with limited dance skills would know exactly how to sweep her off her feet.

Warning: Sweet and hot…this couple knows how to bump and grind.

AJ’s Review:

Lorelei James heats up the bedroom as well as the dance floor in her latest novella in the Two To Tango anthology, Ballroom Blitz. Everything about this riveting story is sexy. The characters are genuine, sexy, and full of spunk. The sex scenes and dance moves are hot, yet sensual enough to make your toes curl; and the dialogue is witty, humorous, and believable.

Jon White Feather may have two left feet on the dance floor, but he more than makes up for it in the bedroom. I would switch places with Maggie in a heartbeat. There is just something about a man that can get a woman all hot and bothered while playing the drums. :) Jon is intelligent, sexy, talented, and at a crossroads in his life. He’s tired of being on the road and is ready to settle down, but will an offer from his agent entice him to change directions when an opportunity of a lifetime presents itself? Moreover, will that opportunity cost him the woman who has managed to capture his heart and soul with one dance move?

Maggie Buchanan is an intelligent, sexy woman who has gumption. I loved her drive and motivation to succeed in the world of competitive ballroom dancing. It’s obvious that Ms. James did her homework. The lust and fears between Maggie and Jon were palpable and will quickly leave the reader enthralled and begging for more. In addition, the sex is explosive enough to keep the reader titillated until the very end.

The secondary characters were humorous, well-developed, at times sarcastic, and definitely added to the complexity of the story. I must admit that there were times I wanted to pop Billy, Maggie’s brother, upside the head. He was such an ass-hat to Jon because of his own past indiscretions.  As Colombo would say…”Don’t Do The Crime, If You Can’t Do The Time!” and that’s my motto as well.   I loved Jon’s family who were warm and inviting, which added to the depth of each character.

If you liked Jon White Feather in Wicked Garden, then you’re going to love him in Ballroom Blitz. The romance is intense, yet sweet; the characters’ insecurities and fears are palpable, the dancing is sensual both in and out of bed, and the raw uninhibited passion is explosive enough to bring a grown man to his knees. Bravo Ms. James, you’ve knocked the ball out of the park with Ballroom Blitz. I’ll definitely be recommending this exquisite gem to my friends.

Author Review: A Touch of Confidence by Jess Dee

A Touch of Confidence by Jess Dee
Series: A Two to Tango Story
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance
Length: 133 pages

Amazon Kindle   Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

He kissed the girl and he liked it. Now to convince her it could be love…

A Two to Tango Story

When a coveted retail space opens up in Rose Bay, Claire Jones and her sisters waste no time grabbing the perfect spot to relocate their expanding children’s bookshop. But when Claire arrives to sign on the dotted line, she discovers someone else got there first.

Worse, the new tenant is shaking hands with a man who is definitely not the elderly Jack Wilson with whom she made a verbal agreement three days ago. This Jack Wilson is a tall, hunky giant—and no amount of righteous indignation can mask her body’s bone-deep sexual response.

Jack never planned to take over the family company; he’s a teacher, not a businessman. But with his grandfather in the hospital, he’s taken up the reins—and steered straight into trouble. Now he’s faced with a serious mistake, and a beautiful, Amazon warrior of a woman who’s demanding satisfaction.

He’d love to give it to her, but his idea of satisfaction has nothing to do with business, and everything to do with getting the curvy goddess naked. The sooner the better…

Warning: If you’ve never made love to a man who quotes Shakespeare during sex…be warned. You’re gonna want to after reading this book.

AJ’s Review:

Jess Dee is a mastermind at writing compelling stories with engaging characters who sizzle both in and out of the bedroom and her latest installment in the Two to Tango anthology, A Touch of Confidence is no different.

The sexual chemistry between Claire and Jack is off the charts. Although they’re both trying to be professional, they also know that the instant connection and raging hormones that each of them are feeling is different. Claire is statuesque, sexy, intelligent, and confident, yet insecure. While she’s confident when it comes to her business, she’s insecure when it comes to her body and love. Hurt by men who didn’t appreciate a full-figured woman with gumption, Claire is somewhat leery of Jack who is sexy as sin. But as her head is saying no, her body is saying yes. Will Claire be able to let down her defenses long enough to allow Jack to prove that he’s not like any man she’s every encountered, but more importantly, he wants her heart, body and soul forever?

Jack is sexy, intelligent, geeky and way over his head when it comes to running his grandfather’s business. In fact, his first business transaction is a disaster and now he has to make amends to the beautiful Claire. But that’s not all he wants to do, and if Jack has his way, Claire will be in his bed and life forever before she even knows what’s happening. In addition to his dilemma with Claire, Jack has problems of his own. He’s torn between his passion – teaching – and stepping up to the plate to help his grandfather by taking over his business. Will Jack be able to work through his obstacles to not only find the love of his life, but also to continue doing what he truly loves as a profession? Guess you’ll have to read the book to find out.

The secondary characters were absolutely amazing and increased the depth, complexity and humor of the story. I loved Jack’s grandfather who was a kind, caring man. It’s obvious that there was so much love between he and his grandson that it will make the reader’s heart swell with joy. The dynamics between the Jones’ sisters is humorous, but genuine. You can’t help but like these ladies and hope for them to find their Happily Ever After. In fact, I’m hoping that Ms. Dee has stories in mind for Claire’s sisters. Hint! Hint! :)

The plot is complex and well-developed. In addition, the dialouge is realistic with a touch of sarcasm and humor that will keep a smile on your face throughout the book. Moreover, the sex sizzles with unbridled passion that’s hot enough to melt your e-reader. I simply couldn’t get enough of Jess Dee’s charismatic characters and ended up reading this delightful, entertaining book in one sitting.

If you’re looking for a quick read that’s full of witty banter, smoking hot sex, and unconditional love, then A Touch of Confidence is definitely the book to read. Jess Dee handles each character’s insecurities and fears with finesse and genuineness. Bravo Ms. Dee, you’ve hit a home run with A Touch of Confidence and I’ll definitely be recommending this wonderful book to my friends.

Author Review: Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas

Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas
Series: Friday Harbor, Book 2
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 336 pages

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

Lucy Marinn is a glass artist living in mystical, beautiful, Friday Harbor, Washington. She is stunned and blindsided by the most bitter kind of betrayal: her fiancé Kevin has left her. His new lover is Lucy’s own sister. Lucy’s bitterness over being dumped is multiplied by the fact that she has constantly made the wrong choices in her romantic life.

Facing the severe disapproval of Lucy’s parents, Kevin asks his friend Sam Nolan, a local vineyard owner on San Juan Island, to “romance” Lucy and hopefully loosen her up and get her over her anger. Complications ensue when Sam and Lucy begin to fall in love, Kevin has second thoughts, and Lucy discovers that the new relationship in her life began under false pretenses. Questions about love, loyalty, old patterns, mistakes, and new beginnings are explored as Lucy learns that some things in life—even after being broken—can be made into something new and beautiful.

AJ’s Review:

With the release of each new installment, Lisa Kleypas draws the reader deeper and deeper into the quaint community of Friday Harbor and the lives of the Nolan family. Rainshadow Road is compelling, intense, emotional, humorous, sensual, and endearing. I enjoyed watching the love blossom between Lucy and Sam as they learned more about one another as well as themselves.

Lucy is intelligent, strong, loyal, kind, talented, and magical. She’s a heroine who you will quickly love. My heart broke for Lucy as she was betrayed by someone who should have cared for her, but I loved how she took the bull by the horns and moved on with her life. Her talent and magic with glass was absolutely amazing and the vivid descriptions that Ms. Kleypas provided made it easier to visualize each of Lucy’s creations. The instant chemistry between Lucy and Sam was electrifying and undeniable as this dynamic duo transitioned from strangers to friends to lovers. But will this charismatic couple be able to let each other go when the time comes? Or, will they realize that their love for one another is deeper than either could have imagined and it will be impossible to live without one another?

Sam is sexy, intelligent, geeky, funny, caring, loyal, lovable, yet vulnerable. His parents alcoholism and abuse habr left with a fear of commitment when it comes to relationships with women. While it’s obvious that he’s capable of loving simply from his relationship with his brothers and Holly, intimacy in a relationship with a woman is out of the quesiton for this devoted bachelor. That is until he meets Lucy, who literally turns his world upside down and has him wanting things he never imagined possible. The possessiveness that Sam instantly feels for Lucy is sexy, protective and caring. I love how he supported Lucy, especially when it came to dealing with her sister, Alice. Moreover, the sexual tension between these two was explosive. What I enjoyed the most was the fact that he wasn’t afraid of her magic, which allowed him to love her unconditionally…the one thing Lucy had never experienced in life.

The secondary characters are a big part of what makes the story so complex and compelling. I wanted to pummel Alice and Kevin. Both of them were selfish, lying, cheating, self-righteous asshats. In all honesty, I couldn’t stand either one of them and couldn’t wait for them to get exactly what they deserved. While Lucy’s parents eventually came to their senses, I wanted to scream at them as well. Their unfair treatment of Lucy made me want to pull my hair out. Whatever happened to loving your children unconditionally? They continued to allow Alice to getaway with being a total selfish biach, which made me want to shake some sense into them. The only redeeming quality was how they handled Alice’s betrayal of Lucy. In addition, the truth regarding her parents marriage shedded more light on the situation in regards to their actions, even though they were still unjustifiable in my book. I loved that Justine and Zoe were there for Lucy when she really needed friends. I loved Zoe’s kindness and Justine’s spunk and can’t wait for their stories. The quaint town of Friday Harbor continues to fascinate me as we meet more and more of the residents.

Lisa Kleypas has penned a riveting story with engaging, well-developed characters who are magical and easy to love. The dialogue remains fresh and believable as the words flow smoothly over each page. The plot is also well-developed and increases the complexity and depth of the overall story. I simply couldn’t get enough of these amazing characters who quickly found a place in my heart and can’t wait for the next book in the series. If you haven’t picked up a copy of Rainshadow Road, then you’re definitely missing out. Ms. Kleypas has crafted a compelling story with several poignant messages that could easily be transferred to any real life situation while putting a smile on your face and warming your heart to the core as the love between Lucy and Sam blossoms.

Summary:

***This book has recently been republished under the title Christmas With Holly.***

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas’s new series begins during the most magical time of year

One rain-slicked night, six-year-old Holly lost the only parent she knew, her beloved mother Victoria. And since that night, she has never again spoken a word.

SOMETIMES, IT TAKES A LITTLE MAGIC…

Maggie Collins doesn’t dare believe in love again, after losing her husband of one year. But she does believe in the magic of imagination. As the owner of a toy shop, she lives what she loves. And when she meets Holly Nolan, she sees a little girl in desperate need of a little magic.

…TO MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE

Three lonely people. Three lives at the crossroads. Three people who are about to discover that Christmas is the time of year when anything is possible, and when wishes have a way of finding the path home…

AJ’s Review:

Lisa Kleypas has crafted a compelling, heartwarming story about loss, love, and second chances. Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor is a sweet, romantic holiday story that will definitely put you in the spirit of Christmas. The characters are vulnerable, charming, and all around lovable. You cant’ help but root for Mark, Maggie and Holly to find their Happily Ever After.

Although Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor is a short read, Ms. Kleypas quickly draws the reader into the lives of the Nolans. I loved how the author provided insight into each character to give the reader a better feel of the complexity of the situation. Mark Nolan loves women, but he has no desire to be in love. While he wants to do what’s best for his niece Holly, his past continues to hinder the present, as well as his future. In Mark’s mind, if love and marriage revolves around what his alcoholic, abusive parents presented, then count him out.

Maggie has loved, lost, and is unwilling to go through such excruciating pain again. She’s content with her life even though if truth be told, she feels alone in the world. That is until she meets Mark Nolan, who recharges her battery like no other man. I loved how fate and Holly kept bring the couple together in order for their relationship to blossom. The situation regarding Thanksgiving had me laughing until I cried because it was so hilarious. But when push comes to shove and Mark realizes that he’s in love with Maggie, will he be able to convince her to take a second chance on him and Holly?

The secondary characters not only increased the depth and complexity of the story, but the Nolan brothers also provided more insight about Mark as well as themselves. My heart broke for all of them as they struggled to deal with alcoholic, abusive parents who didn’t want to be helped. It was interesting to see how differently each child was affected. Yet, the one thing they all had in common was the fear of commitment. I loved the witty banter and ribbing that occurred between the brothers. In addition, the dialogue was genuine, realistic and had me wanting to know more about Sam and Alex. I simply can’t wait for their stories, especially Alex’s. The quaint community itself also acted as character who invited the reader not only into the lives of Mark, Maggie and Holly, but also the town of Friday Harbor.

Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor is a feel-good story that will not only put the reader in the Christmas spirit, but will also warm their heart and put a smile on their face as three individuals learn to become a family. The characters are charming, the town is quaint, the dialogue is fresh and believable, the plot is well-developed, and the love is endearing. I loved watching Mark transition from a bachelor to father. His kind, caring attitude is what will make the reader fall in love with him, just like Holly and Maggie. :) Bravo Ms. Kleypas for penning a story that’s full of heart, soul, and the Magic of Christmas.

Author Review: Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery

Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery
Series: Fools Gold
Publisher: Harlequin (HQN) Books
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: Short Read

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

When Katie McCormick finds out that her sister is marrying her ex, she finally agrees to a setup for the big day. To her surprise, Jackson is a catch. But when wedding catastrophe ensues, will their sparks fizzle or ignite into flames?

AJ’s Review:

Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery is smart, sexy, sassy, and full of wedding drama and family humor. I have never laughed so hard in my life as I was reading this fantastic short story.

Katie is intelligent, kind, caring, sexy, and a saint for putting up with her shallow, bridezilla sister, Courtney. Believe me when I say that Katie has the patience of Job because Courtney manages to push everyone’s buttons with her drama. Add to that Aunt Tilly who always gets her man, or someone else’s, and you have one spectacular comedy that will keep you laughing for days.

Jackson Kent may be considered a nerd, but the man is absolute gorgeous. I loved how he looked beyond Katie’s outer appearance and delved deeper to learn more about her as a person. He saw in Kate what all of her family members not only missed, but also criticized her about on a regular basis. When they say family can be cruel, loud and crazy, they definitely had Katie’s family in mind.

The sexual chemistry between Katie and Jackson sizzled from the moment they met. I always enjoy the “love at first sight” trope and Sister of the Bride was no exception. Ms. Mallery does a splendid job of allowing the reader to learn more about Katie and Jackson in such a short read. Their characters were well-developed and possessed an amount of depth that sometimes you don’t see in full length novels. I loved their honesty with one another, especially as their relationship blossomed and they continued to quickly fall head-over-heels in love.

The secondary characters were a hoot. They definitely helped bring this dynamic story to life with their theatrics and crazy antics. Aunt Tilly made me laugh until I cried as she began her hunt for a man. Courtney, as stated previously, was a complete bridezilla, which made you like Katie even more. Courtney and Alex were both selfish, as well as childish and simply needed to grow up. Janis, Katie’s mom, was simply amazing. Her character as the overwhelmed mother of the bride was on the money. Her quick wit, snappy comebacks, and assessment of each disaster during the wedding was hilarious.

Sister of the Bride is quirky, humorous, and full of wedding bliss. The characters are so full of life that they simply leaf off the page. I loved Katie and Jackson’s spunk, but more importantly, I loved the sensuality of their relationship as it blossomed throughout the book. The dialogue is fresh, witty, and believable. The setting is so vivid that it makes me want to visit Fools Gold. If you haven’t checked out Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery, then what are you waiting for. Pick up your copy to day and enjoy.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 12 pages

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

Emily has waited over two years to give herself to Sergei. She couldn’t have asked for a more patient man. Now they’ve finally reached their wedding night, and after all Sergei’s patience and understanding, Emily wants to be everything for him. How will their first night together compare to their dreams?

This is a 3500-word short story that contains mature content not suitable for younger readers. Reaching the Edge is part of the EDGE series, but this story can be enjoyed as a standalone read.

AJ’s Review:

I love when authors provide readers with a quick update regarding their favorite characters and that’s exactly what Jennifer Comeaux does in Reaching the Edge.

Ms. Comeaux provides the reader with a sneak peek of Emily and Sergei’s wedding night. If you thought their love story was heartwarming, then you’re going to enjoy their wedding night. During Emily and Sergei’s courtship, the reader has always been given a glimpse of how sensual this charismatic couple is when they’re alone, and that intimacy comes full force in this short installment. In my humble opinion, Reaching the Edge was the perfect short story to follow-up Emily and Sergei’s emotional roller coaster engagement and wedding.

In just 12 pages, this tantalizing book packs quite a punch with this sexy couple who will steal your heart and make your body swoon as they finally consummate their relationship. Short, sexy, sensual and yes…sweet are the words that come to mind after reading Reaching the Edge In fact, you’ll definitely have an “aw” moment as the author and characters leave you with a smile on your face after witnessing the deep, unwavering love that Sergei and Emily have for one another.

Author Review & Giveaway: Locked by Maya Cross

Locked by Maya Cross
Series: The Alpha Group, Book One
Publisher: Self-Published
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, BDSM
Length: 120 pages

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

Who is Sebastian Lock?

The bar Sophia Pearce is in doesn’t look like much. The wine is bad and the decor worse. But when a sudden attack of curiosity leads her to sneak past security and into the back room, she discovers something unimaginable. The most lavish party she’s ever laid eyes on, in the most unlikely of places.

But that’s nothing compared to what comes next, to the man she meets back there. Sebastian Lock. Gorgeous, commanding, and radiating charm, he is exactly the sort of silver-tongued rake Sophia has sworn to avoid. Unfortunately, he doesn’t care much for her promises.

Every instinct tells her to run, but the chemistry between them is as inescapable as gravity. Soon, he’s opening her eyes to a whole new world of pleasures, pleasures she never thought she’d enjoy.

There’s just one problem. Sebastian is more than he seems. Between the famous company he keeps and the almost paranoid secrecy of his employers, he’s a puzzle Sophia can’t quite solve, and his insistence on keeping things casual forces her to confront the demons of her past.

Can she learn to trust again? Or will Sebastian’s privacy tear them apart?

Note: This book is the first part of a trilogy that is designed to be read in order, much like The Blackstone Affair. Sebastian and Sophia will get their happily ever after, but not until the last book. I am working hard to make sure you aren’t left hanging for too long!

This is a 35,000 word novella, or about 125 pages (roughly half a full length novel). It contains light BDSM and erotic content and is intended for readers aged 18 and over.

Lockout (The Alpha Group Book Two): Due May 2013

Unlocked (The Alpha Group Book Three): Due June/July 2013

AJ’s Review:

Maya Cross is a new author to me, but she packs a punch with her debut novel, Locked, the first book in The Alpha Group series that’s short and sexy with an exciting edge that’s guaranteed to have you begging for more. The characters are well-developed, the plot is intriguing and mysterious, the sexual tension is arousing, and the sex scenes are smoking hot. I can’t wait to learn more about Sebastian and Sophia as their relationship progresses.

Sebastian Lock simply exudes power and raw animal magnetism. The man is intelligent, gorgeous, and enigmatic. He’s definitely one puzzle that I wouldn’t mind trying to solve both in and out of bed. The moment Sebastian and Sophia met, sparks flew all over the page. It was obvious that their mutual lust for one another was going to set the pages of my e-reader on fire and trust me when I say that Ms. Cross did not disappoint.

Sophia is smart, sexy, strong-willed, yet intrigued enough by Sebastian to explore the feelings that he invokes in her to give up control. I loved the way she wasn’t afraid to state what she needed out of the relationship upfront. In my opinion, Sophia is a woman with gumption, but she’s also vulnerable. I can’t wait to learn more about her past and who hurt her so badly to the point that it’s difficult for her to trust men.

While the primary focus of the story was on Sophia and Sebastian’s relationship, I must admit that I enjoyed the scene in the bar with Sophia and her friends. It’s obvious that these women genuinely care about one another. However, I must admit that I’m a little curious to see whether or not Sophia will open up more about her casual relationship with Sebastian to her friends. The dialogue is crisp, the plot is well-developed, the character are three-dimensional for such a short read, and the sex is smoking hot. As far as cliffhangers go, Ms. Cross definitely knows how to leave a reader with her mouth hanging open and a stunned expression on her face. In fact as the story concluded, I ended up with more questions than answers. For example, what does Sebastian Lock really do for a living? Who broke his heart and swore him off of real relationships that are messy, meaningful, and full of depth? Can he truly be monogamous with Sophia? Guess I’ll have to read Lockout to find out. :)

Locked is the perfect short read to engage in on a quite Saturday afternoon. Ms. Cross has incorporated enough humor to put a smile on your face and enough scorching hot sex to make your body warm up in all the right places. So, pick up a copy of Locked today and become acquainted with Sebastian and Sophia. You won’t be sorry.

CONTENT ADVISORY: This is a re-edited re-released title.

Tamara’s Review:

I was so excited to see that Ms. Martinez decided to do a Christmas follow up to the first book in her Endangered Fae Series. As with the first book, I absolutely fell in love with Finn and Diego. It was like coming home to a quirky but beloved family. It was great to check in on them during the holidays. I found Finn’s fumbling to be endearing as he tried to grasp the concept of the holidays while I also shared Diego’s fear when he thought he was losing his lover – but I’m not going to give any more of the plot line away.

However needless to say, I once more pulled into Ms. Martinez’s world as I followed Diego and Finn’s relationship. This author did a wonderful job in not only drawing me back in, but also putting enough back story into this short that if a person wants to read it independently from the first book they can. However I would suggest reading the first book – but I’m partial. As usual, the chemistry jumped off the pages and I have to give kudos to the author for bringing a special amount of sizzle to the holidays.

Author Review: Redeemed by Ciana Stone

Redeemed by Ciana Stone
Publisher: Ellora’s Cave Publishing
Genre: Erotic, Contemporary Romance, Suspense
Length: 114 pages

Summary:

When Cia Whitehorse walks into Kade Lawson’s office and announces she’s been assigned to help with a serial killer investigation, he’s damn sure he’s never met a federal agent as sexy.

Cia takes one look at Kade and makes up her mind that she’s going to have him in her bed. She might not be interested in love, but sex is definitely right up her alley and Kade looks like the kind of man who can give her just what she wants.

Kade is more than willing to deliver what Cia needs. She gets to him. Tough and sexy, with an unspoken promise in her look that says she’ll rock his world. But that look is covering something. And Kade’s a sucker for a mystery.

The problem is, solving the mystery of Cia Whitehorse comes with a price.

Trixie’s Review :

I think I was hooked at first by the heroine’s awesome ethnic name, but the storyline really dug into my flesh with its fresh plot and characters.

Ciana Stone’s Redeemed is a must read for anyone who is remotely interested in the supernatural “powers” people have, or who simply are looking for a book that will knock their socks off. A serial killer is nothing new, granted, but a serial killer with a female investigator that works with a team who all hold special skills to deal with the dead, is rare and fun. Redeemed has an engaging storyline that moves at the perfect pace, while keeping you on your toes begging for more.

Cia and Kade develop into characters that grab you by the hand and force you to walk the chapters with them. They are magnaminous, believable, far from ordinary, and I am not even mentioning their sexual combustion! Strong Cia finds an equal match in State Ranger Kade who doesn’t miss a detail. Their coming together takes the story further with passion that pops off the page.

Bella is forced to trust Jason with her safety, but does she dare trust him with her heart?

Trixie’s Review:

Under Pressure is book one in Laurie Roma’s IAD suspense series. They do not need to be read in order as the characters are well explained, but it does help with learning about their mission from the beginning. Strong characters and sub characters make this series seem real and bring their story to life.

Jason McBain definitely fits the nickname of Iceman given to him by his fellow agents. Strong, tough, cocky, arrogant, hard bodied, sinfully sexy, and rule follower to the max. So why is it he can’t seem to let go of a fellow agent’s sister Bella? Unexpected fireworks went off the night they met and he is determined to keep them going off. Isabella is a tough cookie herself who doesn’t backdown from her tough brothers or the guy who apparently runs the agency they work for.

Under Pressure is the perfect title for a story that has a love that is on the brink of bursting. Ms. Roma writes erotic scenes that make you sit up and take notice. She has a knack for reaching the characters’ inner emotions and pulling them to the center of her writing. Emotional characters and erotic suspense are definitely ingredients that when mixed together cause you to tingle to your toes. Under Pressure is an intriguing ride with new excitement in every chapter.

Author Review: Colors of Love by Jess Dee

Colors of Love by Jess Dee
Series: Speed, Book Two
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, M/M, M/M/F, Menage a Trois
Length: 133 pages

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

Their true colors are hidden…until one woman turns everything upside down.

Speed, Book 2

Seth Pace, guitarist of the rock band Speed, is a born dreamer, and nothing stands in his way of making those dreams a reality. Except when it comes to band manager Luke Struthers. He’s everything Seth wants in a partner, but even after five years of perfectly explosive sex, Luke refuses to commit.

After a childhood ravaged by abuse, Luke knows he’s a potential danger to anyone foolish enough to love him. Seth is safer without him, but Luke has no idea how to cut him loose painlessly. Until he spots Seth’s kind of woman—pretty, smart, friendly. The plan: seduce her into a sexy threesome, then leave the two alone to fall in love. Problem solved.

A night of excitement with the two hottest men on the planet? Yeah, baby! Yet Kaz’s inborn ability to read auras tells her something isn’t right. It’s obvious Seth and Luke are madly in love, but subtle clues in Luke’s aura signal he’s up to something. She’s not sure what, but if she doesn’t do something quick, the two men she’s quickly come to adore will wind up without the happily ever after they both deserve.

Warning: One man + one man + one woman = a whole lot of steamy two-way and three-way M/M & M/M/F sex, a hero or two to drool over, and a heroine who recognizes true love when she sees it.

AJ’s Review:

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Colors of Love is much grittier than See You In My Dreams, the first book in the Speed series because Ms. Dee addresses the sensitive topic of child abuse and the cycle that can wreak havoc on an abused one’s life if he/she allows it. My heart simply broke for Luke as he fought not only his desires for Seth, but also his love for the man. It was obvious that these two were soul mates, but fears from the past continued to collide with the present to put Seth and Luke in a difficult position regarding their relationship.

Seth may be young, but he’s insightful, soulful and head-over-heels in love with Luke, flaws and all. I loved his determination and drive to go after what he wanted even as Luke continued to deny their love. It takes a strong man who’s heart is open to not flip a switch when his lover tries to set him up with someone else and then not-so discretely walk away from the relationship. I must admit that Luke had gall and Seth had the patience of Job and love on his side.

Then enters Kaz, a woman who reads people based more on their auras than their actions. I absolutely loved Kaz and thought that she was wise beyond her years. Ms. Dee either knows how to read auras or she’s done her homework because Kaz’s reasoning behind what she was seeing from Luke, Seth and even her own aura was on the money. I loved how this couple had to truly struggle and fight for their Happily Ever After by not only relinquishing their secrets and fears, but also dealing with the past. The further the story progressed, the more I became invested in what would become of Luke, Seth and Kaz. While the sex was scorching hot as usual in a Jess Dee book, once again it was the emotional connection between the characters that drew me into the plot of the story and ultimately their lives.

The dialogue is rich, heart wrenching, and realistic. The characters are wounded, yet lovable, inviting, kind-hearted and simply trying to find their place in life like everyone else, which made them very easy to relate to. The sexual chemistry between Luke, Seth and Kaz sizzled throughout the story, but it was obvious that the love shared by this trio was solely between Luke and Seth, which piqued my curiosity in regards to how Ms. Dee was going to resolve this love triangle. While there was a part of me that was a little disappointed with the ending, I whole-heartedly agree with Ms. Dee’s solution. Unfortunately, it left with more questions than answers regarding the series.

Jess Dee seamlessly transitions from the first story in the series, See You In My Dreams, into Colors of Love. In fact, she did an excellent job of showing how the two stories overlapped. I loved that the reader was able to follow-up with Sophie and Nathan. My only niggle is that I would have liked more interaction between the brothers. In this installment, it almost seemed as though Luke and Seth’s relationship was a secret from his brothers. Is that the case Ms. Dee, and if so, will it be resolved in the next book?

Colors of Love is an entertaining story that will pull on the readers’ heartstrings as Luke and Seth try to break the cycle of abuse, fight for their love emotionally while heating up the sheets physically. The additional twist regarding Kaz not only increased the depth and complexity of the story, but also provided an additional avenue for Seth and Luke to use in order to workout their problems. I also loved how the reader was able to get a better feel of the rock-in-roll scene from the perspective of Luke, who was the band’s manager. Moreover, I’m fascinated with Kaz’s abilities to read auras and wouldn’t mind having mine read one day. Jess Dee has penned a compelling story that at times is intense, soulful, sensual, and endearing as each character struggles to find their Happily Ever After. Kudos to Ms. Dee as Colors of Love is a wonderful sequel to See You In My Dreams. So, if you haven’t already done so, bee sure to checkout Jess Dee’s Speed series! You won’t be sorry. :)

Take Me Home, Cowboy by Krista Ames
Series: Western Escape

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook Decadent Publishing All Romance Ebooks Bookstrand

Summary:

Ally Kincaid returns to Freewill, Wyoming, to see her father after a two year absence. Anticipating a quiet family reunion, she finds herself butting heads with her father’s foreman instead. The man’s arrogance and sexy drawl push all her buttons, making her wonder what he’s hiding beneath his cowboy swagger.

Matt Gentry walked away from the past and shies from the future. No ties means no one gets hurt…until the boss’s daughter, a hot, green-eyed blonde, tempts him to break his own rules.

When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy their growing attraction or show them the way home?

Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains adult sexual situations and/or adult language which may be considered offensive to some readers.

AJ’s Review:

Krista Ames is a new author to me, but her latest release Take Me Home Cowboy is a short read that really packs a punch. The plot is complex, the characters are engaging and head strong, the setting is vivid, the secrets are intriguing and will increase the reader’s angst level with the turn of every page, and the sexual chemistry between Ally and Matt is fast and furious like a runaway locomotive. I couldn’t get enough of this charismatic couple with their witty banter. It’s obvious from the beginning that these two are attracted to one another, but secrets from the past and at times an inability to communicate threatens this couple’s Happily Ever After.

Ally Kincaid is smart, sassy, sexy and the apple of her father’s eye. There is no doubt in this reader’s mind that these two loved one another. But the passing of Ally’s mother, stubbornness on both Ally and her father’s part, lack of communication, Ally’s job, and loneliness has kept these two apart. I loved the dynamics between Ally and her father, especially his candor when it came to Matt’s privacy. Although deep down, Ally knew that Matt was a good man, her curiosity gets the better of her and threatens their tenuous relationship.

Matt Gentry is the new Circle K foreman who’s smart, sexy, stubborn, lonely, and wounded from his past. In fact, he’s so afraid of history repeating itself that he keeps people at a distance. But when Ally arrives on the scene, she blows right past Matt’s barriers and quickly finds a place in his heart. While these two fight their attraction for one another using the oldest form of foreplay in the book – opposites attracting though love and hate – the sexual tension between them quickly reaches it’s boiling point until there’s nothing left to do but give in to their desires. And let me tell you, these two know how to make a reader’s mouth water and body tingle in all of the right places. But when an accident occurs and the past collides with the present, will these two be strong enough to weather the storm before the secrets destroy their Happily Ever After?

I loved the secondary characters in Take Me Home Cowboy because each of them increased the depth of the story while adding a touch of humor that will keep the reader smiling throughout the book. While there were a few minor editing problems, they weren’t sufficient enough to deter this reader from the story. The characters were well-developed and simply leaped off the pages, the plot was complex and well-thought out for such a short story, the dialogue was believable and the sex scenes were smoldering enough to keep you begging for more. If you love western stories like myself and haven’t picked up a copy of Krista Ames’ Take Me Home Cowboy, then you’re definitely missing out because this is a great Saturday afternoon read that will quickly warm your heart and put a smile on your face. Ms. Ames has not only found a new fan in this reader, but I’ll also be checking out the rest of her books. Bravo! :)

Excerpt:

Ally’s attention immediately flew to the newcomer in the room. How could she not? He was gorgeous. Not that she actually wanted to notice. Ha! Who was she kidding? His hair was still damp where it curled slightly at the neckline of his T-shirt. The short sleeve tee was snug fitting and showed off his pectorals and tanned arm muscles. He grabbed his plate, made his way around the table, and leaned in close. Oh, his scent hit her—clean soap and pure male. Good God.

“Like what you see, princess?” he murmured.

Startled out of her trance, she stumbled for a quick, snide comment. “You wish, cowboy,” she whispered back, and then turned back to her daddy, who was already halfway finished with his meal.

She was not about to let anyone see how rattled the foreman’s presence actually made her. She only hoped she hadn’t already given her odd interest in him away. Ignore him and he won’t be any the wiser. She would be sure to make this trip a short one, or she would be in trouble.

Jesse cleaned his plate and abruptly stood, placed his dishes in the sink, and made to leave the room.

“Looks like you kids get to do the dishes. I’m off to my study.” Her dad kissed the top of her head and slapped his foreman on the back, then chuckled as he disappeared through the door.

“That rat!” she said. “He shoveled through his dinner on purpose.”

“No worries, princess. I do the dishes every night anyway. You can go do whatever it is you do before bed. I’ll take care of the clean up before I head out to check the horses.”

“Oh no you don’t. I won’t let you go running to Daddy tomorrow whining because I didn’t do my share, so I’ll wash. And why are you calling me ‘princess’?”

“It seemed fitting. Would you rather me go back to ma’am?”

“No, I would rather you use my name, thank you.”

He only shrugged. He pushed his place setting aside, rose, and reached for the dessert and plates on the counter. “Since we’ll be working together, how about some dessert before we get busy?”

Born and raised in Northern Indiana, Krista now resides in Northern Lower Michigan. She is married to a very supportive man, Chip, who allows her to follow her true passion of writing and never complains when she is pirated away on her computer for hours. He even helps with proof-reading and is her “in-house” editor and her idea sounding board. She is also a mother of 4 ornery children who keep her plenty busy. With an addition of 2 beautiful chocolate lab sisters and 2 playful cats, there is never a dull or spare moment in her household.

Krista has always loved to read and would often sit up for hours into the night not able to put down a book until she was finished. She still reads when she can but her main focus is creating her own stories to share with the world.

Jessica Talbot is new to the BDSM scene and the bull riding tour, but after seeing Conner come to the aid of a submissive being mistreated in a club, she sets out to have him for her own. After their first night together she asks him to train her to submit and he refuses, afraid to mix business with pleasure. But Jessica isn’t deterred. She’ll do whatever it takes to make him realize he can have it all—a career, true love, and the BDSM lifestyle he craves.

Lace’s Review:

Impact by Cassandra Carr was one sizzling hot encounter I would enjoy visiting again. Holy smokes, it was that good!

Conner’s character was quite likeable. He came out of the shoot full force and taking charge. I could easily see why Jessie was drawn to him. Ms. Carr was it hard to create Conner, or did he come naturally to you?

Jessica had me wanting to scream. “What are you waiting for?” *grins* This heroine even though she is a sub has moxie, something I truly enjoy in a female lead. I have to say though, she dominates the story for me.

Conner and Jessica start out almost by accident, but it was fun to watch them stumble through the first stages of attraction. I think Ms. Carr did brilliantly in describing his turmoil and issues regarding the life style,.

The second level characters added to this already amazing plot. I adored Jessica’s family. Oh! and sweet Brady, I am hoping we get his story soon. Please! I am going to pout a bit though Ms. Carr because I wanted to see how Brady dealt with Conner’s lifestyle up close in the club. LOL!

Can you get any Hotter than Cassandra Carr Heck No! Ms. Carr knows how to pen stories that make you melt. Pick-up Impact today because the title fits.

Author Review: Her Black Knight by Vivi Dumas

Her Black Knight by Vivi Dumas
Publisher: Breathless Press
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 46 pages

Amazon Kindle Breathless Press

Summary :

Born in the wrong century, Gwendolyn Braxton is searching for her knight in shining armor. She learns by taking a chance and hopping a plane to England, sometimes fairy tales do come true.

Gwendolyn Braxton was born in the wrong century. She submerges her life into the study of the Renaissance Era. She is the resident expert on all things Arthurian in the DC Metro area, maybe even the U.S. Unfortunately, none of her knowledge helps her to find her own Knight in Shining Armor. Actually, as a Black woman in Washington D.C., it runs men off like the plague. To make things worse, her mother has stepped in to fix her before she plunged into spinsterhood.

Morien Knight is far from home in search of an artifact lost in history, a history he longs to emerge himself back into. His small sabbatical from his mission to participate in the Kentland Castle Resort Renaissance Faire might lead him to exactly where he belongs. Morien learns when dealing with the poetic lessons of his old friend, Merlin, things may not always exist as you expect.

Naunet’s Review :

Vivi Dumas is an author of a spirited short story, Her Black Knight , which piqued my curiosity as I recall The Tales of the Three Musketeers during an era in when these three men who where portrayed as handsome gentlemen and fierce fencers. The Three Musketeers centered in Paris was penned by Alexander Dumas. Both talented authors share the same last name and wouldn’t it be ironic if Vivi Dumas was related to the renown author Alexander Dumas?

Vivi Dumas’ writing style is smooth, luscious and well balanced, hitting all the elements I relish in an erotic romance. I was enthralled with the blend of current times and historical connections. The scenes of intimacies were beautiful and tasteful and reminded me of where fairy tales and fantasies originate. I related to Gwyn Braxton on a couple of levels, the first being the locale of Washington, D.C. with the numerous art galleries and museums. The second level involved remembering the fairy tales that were read to me as a young child. The dreams of finding a Knight in Shining Armor is a quest that many young girls from the 1940′s – 1970′s heard about and that perhaps they would be fortunate enough to find such a man to spend the rest of her life with. Hmmm, Vivi Dumas recreation of this blissful, loving fantasy in Her Black Knight was so delicious that I investigated to see if Kentland Castle was a resort. I am overdue for a vacation. :-)

Gwyn Braxton is a beautiful, thirty year old professional with honey complexion, corkscrew curls. Gwyn would love to find and fall in love with the man of her dreams; however, she finds it difficult to find him in the museums, art galleries and lectures about ancient art. She worked in the National Galley of Art in Washington, D.C.. Gwyn inherited her love for medieval art, the history of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table from her parents who are professors of art and history.

Fifteenth century Moorish Knight, Morien, is part of the entertainment that focuses on Renaissance period at Kentland Castle Resort. Morien is on the ancient quest for the Grail and once he locates it the legend states he will be able to return home. Morien is a just shy of a god with his ripples of muscles, sexy eyes, handsome dark olive complexion that stands over 6 feet tall. O-M-G! Ms. Dumas paints Morien like a master artist.

The festivities held at the Maryland Renaissance are pale by comparison to the Kentland Castle Resorts Renaissance Tournament entertainment.

Her Black Knight lifted me off my feet and twirled me around blissfully like a princess. The adoring encounter between Gwyn and Morien was sensationally illustrated to the point that I felt as if I were in the scene with Gwyn and Morien enjoying the titillations the two lovers shared.

I loved this short story and wished it were longer, but it is the perfect length for a bedtime story to devour before drifting off to dreamland. Ms. Dumas thanks for such a soft, comfortable, sexy narrative.

Author Review: Blackout Domination by Cassandre Dayne

Blackout Domination by Cassandre Dayne
Publisher: Rebel Ink Press
Genre: Erotic Contemporary, BDSM, M/F, M/M
Length: 96 pages

Amazon Kindle   Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary :

Steven Winters felt betrayed, both in love and in his professional life. Having found his soon-to-be ex-wife in bed with the wife of his employer, Steven knew the shit was going to hit the fan soon. Granted, the marriage had been arranged to save face for his ultra conservative parents, but Steven cared about her and the pill was more than just bitter. Heading for a kink club he’d been avoiding, he was ready to rip off the mask and find the man of his dreams. An ugly storm on the horizon certainly wasn’t going to get in his way of finding happiness.

Dyson Scanlon was hunting for the perfect submissive, one he could mold and train. Sadly, few could handle his particular cravings. Venturing into a posh kink club in downtown Chicago, after a conversation with a stunning blond, his instincts kicked in. This was the perfect submissive. As the storm kicked into high gear, they were left in the dark to explore. As both men discovered their most hidden desires, the blackout becomes the ultimate fantasy zone. But was either man prepared to face the light?

Naunet’s Review :

Black Out Domination penned by Cassandra Dayne is one my favorite authors of erotica with meaning. Black Out Domination bites with the sharpness of a razor in this fast paced novella. Ms. Dayne shines light on how the darkness of reality will eventually catch up with you no matter how fast the running speed. Those realities and secrets may impact the lifestyle and self-esteem of an individual on both sides of the aisle of deception and honesty.

Get your flashlight and broom ready to appreciate the drama that unfolds in Black Out Domination.

As my dad used to say “ What you do in the dark will come into the light”. Father knows best and in this complex story his sayings are truly manifested through the brilliant writing of Cassandre Dayne. Ms. Dayne shows her readers the various struggles that handicap one’s life hiding from what is true.

Black Out Domination portrays that false face some members of society claim are appropriate. With this in mind comes some sacrifices of the true persona to move obscurely through life in an effort to move up professionally.

In the novella Black Out Domination, Ms. Dayne introduces three key characters who are undercover and take more grief than one should endure to get ahead in a chosen career. The characters are afraid of accepting their darker sides of their respective lives. Ms. Dayne takes the readers on a conflicted roller coaster ride with her troubled characters as they attempt to cross the line. She teaches her audience an important and unforgettable message which I look forward to when reading the works of Cassandre Dayne.

Steven Winters a forty-two year old, young, hard working attorney works numerous hours daily in an effort to obtain the level of partner in a prestigious law firm in Chicago. Steven is a young, handsome, clever man on his way to the top and in order to get there he must maintain a profile that from the outside looking in is damn near perfect. Money, a beautiful wife, a classy home, and well respected amongst his peers are just a few of his attributes. Jenny is a beautiful, sexy woman who has a high sex drive just like her husband. The two of them share similar taste in carnal, intimate expressions. Perfect!! huh?

Lucinda Moorfield is a colleague with a sharp mind and tongue to match. She and Steven have encountered numerous hours in the courtroom. Lucinda flirts with him for sport and she is a ruthless, cold-hearted woman. Lucinda is married to Daniel Moorfield, one of the law firms partners at Moorfield and Stringfellow.

Dyson Scanlon is an ingenious business man who does not let the demise of the economy slow down his hard hitting tactics to take over struggling businesses. The bigger the challenge the sweeter the acquisition. Dyson surrounded himself with an extremely loyal staff and with every new takeover they celebrated with cheers and plenty of champagne. Dyson is a hunk of sensuous, dominance, with an expensive lifestyle and he has the skills to get whatever and whomever he desires, but there appears to be an unsatisfied hunger roaring within him.

During a blackout Dyson and Steven affirm their acquaintance and dote on each other in this fresh encounter.

Thanks to the surreptitiousness of the BDSM club and the concealment of identities via masks, etc. Steven and Dyson become each others’ juicy forbidden fruit they long to taste. Dyson is a Dom who has a submissive who speaks his mind making the relationship a bit abrasive, but as some say, “ Stay with the one you have because it is better than nothing”.

Jenny Winters and Daniel Moorfield, secondary players in this narrative, makes appreciating truth although from various positions in Black Out Domination. Lucinda, Steven and Dyson are loosely connected, but are unaware of this bond between them.

Ms. Dayne’s Black Out Dominance creates a story of titillations in a living and business environment that dreams are made of for her characters. She incorporates deceit, pain, broken relationships and the hunger for power and success to bake a pie that is hard to swallow because of its tartness; whereas there are other periods that are as sweet as honey.

There is a loveliness of roses within Ms. Dayne’s characters as they relate to each other and a thorniness as the tension of the secrets unravel. In this breath hitching read, I get wrapped tightly in the lives of Ms. Dayne’s cast members labyrinth of existence. Will the resonance of truth and integrity set the necessary precedence to provide the steeliness for backbones to eliminate the complications of falsehoods?

I savored every morsel of this hypersexual narrative. There are places in the book that shine like a diamond with its clarity for Steven and Dyson while other areas hold the obscure horrific vibe similar to the unknown darkness of night many young children fear.

The electrifying BDSM experiences are aptly depicted and leaves a mark on the sensory neurons as the intensities of bonding grow. Richness of the dialogue, mood and earthy characters, climax and resolutions may change the perceptions for most who delve deeply into the recesses of their own psyche.

Ms. Dayne brings violations, as well as pain of acceptance and forgiveness in such a powerful manner that I could not put the book down until the end. I hung on to her every word.

Black Out Domination may stimulate you to appreciate those rolling blackouts and the excitement you may bump into as you attempt to find the light.

Author’s Angels Review & Giveaway: Strict Machine by Justus Roux

Strict Machine by Justus Roux
Series: Master Series, Book 25
Publisher: Self-Published
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, BDSM
Length: 136 pages

Amazon Kindle Barnes and Noble Nook

Summary:

Salome was tricked by the man she loved most in this world. Lucian said he was her Master and that he loved her. Yet, he abandoned her here with these strange men. Her life quickly became a living hell. One in which she thought she never escape until a man named Master Darius saved her from these slavers. He was going to hunt down Lucian and she wanted to be there when he caught him.

Darius wasn’t too happy when Salome wanted to be his submissive after he saved her from those slavers. He couldn’t refuse Xanthos’ request to train Salome. They had to keep her from running back to Lucian. Darius knew Salome wouldn’t fit into his home, his submissives were trained to break up slave rings and she was nowhere near tough enough to do this. He figured he would keep her until he caught Lucian then he would send her to Master Drake. She would certainly fit in with Drake’s pampered pets.

Salome finds herself falling in love with Master Darius despite the fact that he comes across to everyone as a strict machine. She knows underneath his frigid façade there is a Master beyond all others. But will she have the strength to uncover it, especially after what Lucian has put her through.

“Strict Machine” is another exciting addition to Justus Roux’s bestselling Master Series.

AJ’s Review:

Justus Roux is a new author to me, but she quickly swept me up into Master Darius and Salome’s world that revolves around taking down slave traders in the BDSM community. The opening scene was intense and frightening, which provided the reader with a realistic picture of what women experience who have been deceived by a lover and ultimately find themselves in danger. Please note that Strict Machine is part of a series and I highly recommend that you read the books prior to this one to fill in the blanks regarding what has happened with the women in Master Darius’ BDSM community. Although I was able to grasp the overall situation, Strict Machine is not a book to be read as a stand alone.

My heart went out to Salome who had been preyed on both emotionally and physically by Lucian, an evil, wanna be Dom. The man’s actions toward women is simply despicable, which made me want to kill him on sight. But in spite of Salome’s abuse and vulnerabilities regarding her instincts, she’s a strong woman with gumption.

Master Darius is the epitome of a “strict machine”.  His former training as a Marine is evident through his dedication to his submissives, his rules and regulations for his submissives, as well as his determination to save those entangled in a slavery ring due to Lucian. I loved his quirk for steampunk sex machines, which provided an additional dimension to his character. His firm, yet gentle interaction with Salome warmed my heart as he strived to give her exactly what he thought she needed as a submissive. But as these two learn to communicate and come to terms with their predicament, things begin to level out and each character gains a better perspective of one another. As stated previously, Salome is anything but a delicate flower and her only agenda is to fight for other submissives who find themselves in her former situation.

The action in Strict Machine is fast-paced and invigorating. I loved the additional suspense component that Ms. Roux added to the plot in order to keep the reader in a high level of angst. As the story progresses, you can’t help but wonder who is the mole in Master Darius’s BDSM community. The secondary characters were diverse in regards to personality and increased the complexity and depth of the story as I continually wondered how they all came to be in such an interesting BDSM relationship. In fact, it piqued my curiosity so much that now I’m going to have to read the other 24 books in the series to catch up. :) My only niggle is that there were a few minor editing problems, but nothing so drastic that it would deter the reader from the story.

Justus Roux has penned a compelling, heart-wrenching story with engaging, flawed characters who will quickly find a place in your heart. She handles the sensitive subject of slave trading with a touch of reality and finesse. Strict Machine will take the reader through a myriad of emotions that range from sorrow to anger to ultimately joy as more women are saved from these despicable, dangerous men who are not only evil, but also lack heart and soul.

Excerpt:

Chapter One

The bars of the cage were cool to the touch. The cement floor in which the cage was bolted onto was hard and unwelcoming. The air reeked of urine, sweat and sex. And what was worse there was no light in this room most of the time, though at times this was welcoming, the light only served to illuminate this dank place. This was Salome’s reality for the last four months. Her truth, her hell, it threatened to rob her of her mind, her very soul. Her only crime that damned her to this place was that she chose to love the wrong man.

At times she could hear soft weeping. This saddened her, knowing that other women shared her fate.

Lucian led her to this place, and like a fool she followed. She can still see Lucian’s smile in her thoughts. He was so handsome, so charming…God she was a fool. He let those other men use her roughly and when he grew tired of it he simply left her here. He didn’t say goodbye or give any explanation on why he did this to her. The smelly older male of the bunch locked her in this damn cage over a week ago. He said she needed to be housebroken. And when she inquired about Lucian the older male only said that she belong to this house now.

Her tears would not come, though she disparately needed to cry. She huddled in a corner of the small cage trying to warm herself. The ratty dress they had made her wear offered no warmth and barely covered her. She looked at the two dog bowls that were placed in her cage. The repugnant old man took so much pleasure in treating her like a dog. The only time she was let out was twice a day to use the bathroom.

Salome closed her eyes and prayed for release from this abyss. She prayed that someone would save her and the others or that one of these monsters would hurry up and take her life. One way or another she wanted to be free of this hell.

Summary:

Lucia Roa needs a miracle to keep her fledgling event planning business from going under. When she gets word about the opportunity of a lifetime to do a Valentine’s Day party for an elite club in Washington D.C. she jumps at the chance. It’s not until afterward, that she learns the party isn’t for just any club, it’s for the premier private BDSM club, Wicked. Desperate to make the social and professional connections that this job would offer, she agrees to a most unconventional and risqué business arrangement with the handsomest man she’s ever met.

CEO Isaac O’Keefe swore off relationships years ago after having his heart broken and his bank account emptied by his gold-digging first wife. He thought he’d managed to keep his heart under lock and key, but when Lucia walks into his office he is instantly drawn to the fiery beauty. He convinces Lucia to take the position as event planner for Wicked’s Valentine’s Day party, but in order to make the event a success, he must give her a crash course at all the dark pleasures BDSM has to offer.

Compatible goals quickly explode into something much steamier, but will Isaac be able to open his heart to his Wicked Valentine?

Naunet’s Review:

Once again another extremely erotic romance from the magnificent author Ann Mayburn. My Wicked Valentine is a hot, sensitive heartwarming story just in time for Valentine’s Day or anytime you want a story that makes you feel a special kind of way to the point that it burns deeply inside the dark corner of your sensory neurons . In My Wicked Valentine Ms. Mayburn draws into the narrative like a moth to a flame and that flame captivates Lucia Roa and the reader. If you want a thrill seeking ride of lust and innocence to the wild world of BDSM, then My Wicked Valentine is definitely the book to read.

Ms. Mayburn releases inhibitions of those who have not experienced the various phases of the pleasure of BDSM. Ann Mayburn creates a wicked valentine story to be savored by romantics. The terrific manner in which Ms. Mayburn depicts the tender, sensuous, pulsations to every part of the human anatomy is mesmerizing.

In My Wicked Valentine Lucia Roa and Isaac O’Keefe are the awesome main characters who will definitely rock the vibrations of erotic, melodious rhythm that makes the reader breathlessly awaiting the blessings of passionate unity between Lucia and Isaac. Isaac takes the audience to places and levels that he controls and drives you crazy with passion and plenty of heavy breathing. All I had to do was let my imagination accompany with Ms. Mayburn’s finely honed descriptions of the the world of BDSM and an adventurous, strong, enterprising woman such as Lucia Roa.

Lucia and Isaac come from different social worlds that blends wonderfully together to ignite the sheets of one of Washington D.C.’s private, exclusive, BDSM clubs. Here sexually uninhibited power brokers luxuriate in the club known as Wicked. Wicked is a place where wild abandon takes over and the games begin and end in a den of lust and power that’s frequented by Washington’s and some of the world’s elite personalities.

Lucia Roa is a goddess like, sexy, entrepreneur who desires to build her event planning business into the most sought after in the D.C. sophisticates high and mighty. She is young, energetic and desires to do more with her life and her company.

Isaac O’Keefe is a highly respected man in New York and Washington, DC who is working on reaching another rung on his ladder by becoming a board member of the the infamous club Wicked. Isaac is the embodiment of sexiness, brains and brawn who is not only a knight in shiny armor; but also a sensitive skilled Dom. He is powerful, handsome, intelligent, gracious and CEO of a powerful business.

Ms. Mayburn blends the aromatics of erotic romance entwined with suspense that engulfs the reader into flames, which encompasses a lackluster libido into an earth rattling rumble with high explosive BDSM and passionate loving making. The layers of adjectives and play of words creates an avalanche of sexy energy into the mind of readers that shakes the soul and private parts.

The secondary characters in My Wicked Valentine: Sara Florentine, Chloe, Mary Wellington, and Roa’s family give this tale twists of wickedness, thought provoking carnality, and an enjoyable narrative that carries that necessary punch to keep the eyes of the reader speeding across the pages between the front and back covers.

As usual Ms. Mayburn creates characters, an environment, rising elements and resolutions that I could relate to, not to mention envy. Ingrained in My Wicked Valentine is a close knit family full of security, love and protectiveness. The family love and fervor of compassion between Isaac and Lucia grips the audience with excitement on all levels be it carnal or euphoria.

Isaac O’Keefe is the kind of man I would value and cherish with his understanding of just how to set ablaze the intimacies and lust running through Lucia. My Wicked Valentine plasters a smile on my face while I entertain many secret lascivious thoughts.

I believe My Wicked Valentine penned by Ann Mayburn’s processes a well rounded energy of joy, protectiveness of family, hot, yet gentle introductions to the BDSM world for Lucia; and might encourage the reader to explore his/her on a personal level of wickedness. Isaac’s gentleness while being the skillful Dom snaked through my heart and I fell head over heels for the emotions beating through the hot blooded story. My Wicked Valentine will definitely re-energize a lazy libido. :-)
