The perfect solution occurs to him in the middle of a snowy night, and he struggles to make it work before he turns into a permanently frozen pooka.

CONTENT ADVISORY: This is a re-edited re-released title.

Tamara’s Review:

I was so excited to see that Ms. Martinez decided to do a Christmas follow up to the first book in her Endangered Fae Series. As with the first book, I absolutely fell in love with Finn and Diego. It was like coming home to a quirky but beloved family. It was great to check in on them during the holidays. I found Finn’s fumbling to be endearing as he tried to grasp the concept of the holidays while I also shared Diego’s fear when he thought he was losing his lover – but I’m not going to give any more of the plot line away.

However needless to say, I once more pulled into Ms. Martinez’s world as I followed Diego and Finn’s relationship. This author did a wonderful job in not only drawing me back in, but also putting enough back story into this short that if a person wants to read it independently from the first book they can. However I would suggest reading the first book – but I’m partial. As usual, the chemistry jumped off the pages and I have to give kudos to the author for bringing a special amount of sizzle to the holidays.

Author Review: Mate Healer by Amber Kell

Mate Healer by Amber Kell
Series: Dragon Men #4
Publisher: Silver Publishing
Genre: GLBT, M/M, Fantasy, Erotic Romance
Length: 178 pages

Summary:

Lian Blythorpe avoids entanglements. Nevair Dragonfang is deeply entrenched by them. When they meet, their outlooks change and they forge a bond. But not everyone is happy with that outcome.

His parents’ violent ending makes Lian Blythorpe vow to keep things light between himself and any partner. His promise is abandoned when he meets Nevair Dragonfang, the religious leader for an entire planet. One glance into Nevair’s intense gaze and Lian melts. It only takes them coming together one time for Lian to find himself captured by his sexy mate to the point where he can’t imagine life without him. Unfortunately, not everyone is pleased with their bond and one man’s jealousy sends Lian to a trial by fire he may not survive.

Tamara’s Review:

Good Golly, Miss Molly! Mate Healer is a superb book! Ms. Kell has really won my admiration with this book. She managed to portray the religion of the “dragon men” without me gritting my teeth. Normally, this reviewer has huge issues with reading religion in erotica. Must be my naughty catholic girl saying “you bad little girl” but I digress. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really liked Nevair and couldn’t help but love Lian, as he suddenly realizes he needs his mate – no matter what happened to him as a child. Now there’s a smart man – one who actually recognizes what he has and is willing to do anything to hang onto him.

Not to say that everything is smooth sailing between the men. The friction may be hot between the men but the chemistry is even hotter until this reviewer was wondering if her kindle was going to catch on fire. Of course this book isn’t all about some steamy m/m sex. Nope! It also has a person out to muck up their happiness before it even has a chance to grow. Fast paced and steamy, I’d definitely suggest you pick up a copy of Mate Healer. You won’t be sorry. I know I wasn’t!

His one good deed in helping out the little girl would lead him into the arms of a dragon prince. Raven soon learns that once a dragon spots its mate it will keep him closer than gold.

READER CAUTION: This title is an expanded, re-edited release.

Tamara’s Review:

Okay after reading the second book of the Dragon Men Series, I wasn’t certain which direction Ms. Kell was going to take her series. I can’t say I was disappointed when I read Mate Dance but at first I wanted to punch out one of the heroes, Prince Kaemon. He had personality issues which made me grit my teeth and pray that the author could redeem him before the end of the book. And I will say she did…but not how. I won’t give away her plot. You’ll just have to read it and find out.

I will say; however, I did immensely enjoy seeing Raven put his mate in his place. He treats him like he’s another man not a Prince who is heir to the throne and expects the man to behave better and isn’t shy about telling him when he steps out of line. I loved his character. Not only was he entertaining, his story tugged at my heart strings. Add to the whole mess an adorable little girl who is able to wrap all the men around her little finger and sizzling chemistry between the heroes and you have a fast but to die for read.

Author Review: Mate Test by Amber Kell

Mate Test by Amber Kell
Series: Dragon Men #2
Publisher: Silver Publishing
Genre: GLBT, Paranormal,Fantasy, M/M
Length: 93 pages

Summary:

Bonding with a space dragon left Tor blind but not helpless. When his uncle requests he go to the dragon planet to check on his cousin and negotiate mineral rights with a king, he goes, unknowing his hand in marriage is also at risk.

READER CAUTION: This title is an expanded, re-edited release

Tamara’s Review:

I’ve so been waiting for this book ever since I read the first book in the Dragon Men Series. And let me tell you, Ms. Kell didn’t disappoint. In Mate Test I got to revisit one of the characters from the first book, Tor. I loved his character. Who wouldn’t? He’s blind from binding with a very rare space dragon but still super masculine and alpha in his behavior. He doesn’t let his blindness get in the way of getting what he wants. Particularly if it happens to be King Naron’s prized chef.

What really intrigued me was the relationship that Tor had with his dragon, Baroy. I love how Ms. Kell wove it into the tale, much more so than she did in the first book. In Mate Test Baroy seems to be much more active than the dragons in the first book. I also loved the fact that Tor has children and how he deals with his dragon’s jealousy of them. Tor is a strong character who just seemed to leap off the pages. Mate Test is definitely a book I’d recommend to all my friends who enjoy m/m and maybe a few who don’t. It’s just that good!

Mate Hunt by Amber Kell
Series: Dragon Men #1
Publisher: Silver Publishing
Genre: GLBT, M/M, Paranormal, Erotic Romance
Length: 179 pages

Summary:

When Jory’s father sends him to the dragon planet to make a match little does he know that Jory will bond with not one but two powerful men. His final decision will change the fate of world.

READER CAUTION: This title is an expanded, re-edited release

Tamara’s Review:

Yum! What’s better than two men together? How about about three? And that’s exactly what Ms. Kell delivered with her first book in the Dragon Men Series, Mate Hunt. Of course being the dragon freak I am, I absolutely had to pick this up. Particularly when I figured out that there were dragon shifters in the story line.

Ms. Kell did a wonderful job creating the chemistry and friction between all three males, particularly between Jory’s competitive mates, King Rai and the Nobleman Val. I was ready to scream at them before the book was half over. I could just tell that they wanted each other and being the stubborn men that they were, they ignored it. Good thing Ms. Kell gave them Jory. Now I won’t give away the ending of story but I assure you it’s well worth the read, especially when there’s an unknown villain plotting to end Jory’s life and Rai and Val need to figure out how to not only save their mate but also get along as well.

Author Review: Riding the Rocket by Sharita R Lira

Riding the Rocket by Sharita R Lira
Publisher: Sizzler Edition
Genre: GLBT, M/M, Sci-Fi, Erotic Romance
Length: 179 pages

Summary:

In this collection of futuristic erotic romances with a gay male spin that will warm your heart and arouse your mind and libido, love truly knows no boundaries. Science Fiction is tricky. Throw lust in the mix and it becomes trickier. Add in budding strictly male love affairs and the narrative begins to defy gravity: the conventional sentiment that romance is purely for the heterosexual. Impressed by Maura Anderson takes Hawaii from its days as a sailing hub to a seedy airship port full of opium dens, illicit pleasure clubs and press gangs that can be bribed to impress just the right man — for a price.

In Omakine by Ralph Greco, love, or at least lust, can happen between two species…as well as can prejudice. Michael Mandrake’s story Longing for a Normal State of Vertigo – One man’s quest to find love ends up being a heavenly experience. The Universal Language by Kiernan Kelly details how Mishau’s life is spent battling nature and struggling for survival, while Kurt’s world is far more technologically advanced, but when circumstances throw two very different men together, they quickly realize that lust is a language understood by everyone. The Test by Sascha Illyvich has one lover regretting what he did wrong with his life until he’s seduced by someone very special. Plus these stories by these fine writers: BAD PLACE by Cecilia Tan, FOSTER’S RACE by Darla M. Sands, EQUIVALENT EXCHANGE by Charity Thornton, DESERT FOXES LIVE IN CONCERT, by Tanya Janke, LONGING FOR A NORMAL STATE OF VERTIGO by Michael Mandrake, A BERTH ON CALISTA by Sebastian Blade, MIND GAMES by TJ Golden, SKY by Leigh WilderRiding the Rocket is an anthology that overflows with talent, showcasing well written hot, erotic male-male love stories with a science fictional spin, that push boundaries and define them in gay voices, the voices of the future.

Tamara’s Review:

This book was a difficult book for me to read and review. While I liked something about everything in Riding the Rocket, I found the stories to be, shall we say “oddities”. Now don’t get me wrong, this book had it’s moments and the writing was very well edited, but from a personal stand point, I found some of the stories more disturbing than entertaining. With that being said, I do want to hit on the highlights of the book…the ones which I thoroughly enjoyed.

First of all, I love the science-fiction genre this book contains. It’s not just limited to one world, but had me hopping across the galaxy and even species. While not all of these books aroused my passions, I will say that a great deal of them did. In Omakine, a short by Ralph Greco it was the moral of the story that got me. It reminded me of how a person always thinks they are entitled to their wants and how as a human, we will blather on and try to make things to our benefit when in all actuality things may not be what they seem.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the shifter story, Equivalent Exchange by Charity Thornton. The emotion – even the fear she portrays in the hero of her story is very heartfelt. For such a short story, it seems to be the one which sticks out primarily in my mind because of the emotional roller coaster this author sends you on, in such a few brief pages.

Overall Riding the Rocket isn’t a bad book, and if you’re looking for something that will be a bit different but still have sizzling m/m sex in it, I suggest you try this out. You may find a new author or two which you enjoy.

CONTENT ADVISORY: This is a re-edited re-released title.

Tamara’s Review:

Wow! That’s the first thing that came to my mind after I finished reading Finn. Ms. Martinez did a wonderful job of creating this book and the world which Finn and Diego live in. I was hooked from the first moment that I read the blurb. I just had to read the book. And let me tell you I wasn’t disappointed.

Ms. Martinez did a wonderful job blending the sci-fi/fantasy genre along with the m/m genre. However, I will warn you, if you do sit down and read Finn be prepared and have a hanky with you. I shed more than a few tears as I watched Diego’s journey to combat what not only he sees as his seizures, but also the acceptance of a life with Finn despite their differences.

I do have to mention how hot the chemistry is between Diego and Finn. Ms. Martinez does a beautiful job of creating tension and eventually lust between two very different men. I anxiously look forward to reading the next book in this series, since I just found out about it. Kudos Ms. Martinez! Not only did you catch my interest the first time, you’ve brought me back for more!

Author Review: Silver Tongue by Marie Harte

Silver Tongue by Marie Harte
Series: A Power Up! Story : Book 6
Publisher: Loose-Id
Genre: Erotic, Paranormal Romance
Length: 206 pages

Summary:

Kitty Nelson works for the PowerUp! gym as the day manager. But the empath does a lot more than run the gym. She keeps the team in shape, tempering emotions in a high strung group of psychics. It’s not easy, but Kitty keeps the peace, until one day she meets her match in a man who won’t cave to her looks, her smiles, or her psychic skills. Who knew meddling with a couple in love would lead to man straight out of her fantasies…and nightmares? Because with Dane, she knows he won’t accept less than total control.

Dane Hanson did his time for the Marine Corps. He also got shot and found himself medically retired, leaving him aching for the excitement of a job he loved. He found solace in his artwork, and it’s that ability to create that has Kitty needing his help. He’s back in the thick of things on an undercover assignment, but everything’s different. Kitty is psychic, her skills don’t work on him, and she’s the hottest thing he’s ever seen. Even better, the woman has submissive tendencies he’s dying to explore. But when the mission turns deadly, Dane realizes he doesn’t just want to play with Kitty, he wants to own the feisty redhead for a lot longer than this mission. That’s if she’ll let herself surrender, the bad guys don’t shoot them, and the weird statue they’re sent to retrieve doesn’t curse them to death.

Note:This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: anal play/intercourse, Domination/submission.

Tamara’s Review:

Seriously! I want to know where I can find a guy like Dane! Ms. Harte has packed more oomph into this sexy Dom than I can shake a stick at. I almost would like to say he stole the show but like any good author, Ms. Harte has also made sure her heroine, Kitty is just as strong and can stand up to his domineering ways when she needs to. To say the sexual chemistry sizzles between these two is a gross understatement.

I loved how Ms. Harte balanced the fast-paced plot as Dane and Kitty go undercover to find the statue, but still manages to find a way for Kitty and Dane to connect both in the bedroom and out of it. I would have to say that out of all the books in the PowerUp! series this is one of my favorite tales and I can’t wait for this author to write the next tale.  Perhaps, she’ll finally give a book to Kitty’s boss or perhaps even their elusive client. This reviewer will definitely be watching for the next book.

Author Review: Fortune’s Favor by Marie Harte

Fortune’s Favor by Marie Harte
Series : Power Up, Book 4
Publisher: Loose-Id
Genre: GLBT, M/M, Erotic, Paranormal Romance
Length: Novel

Summary:

Nathan Kraft needs more than the life he’s currently living. Once an agent for the Psychic Warfare Program, he’s now reduced to helping civilians get in shape at the PowerUp! gym, where his buddies and he continue to train their minds in secret. He’s always up for some excitement, in the form of a job or a man, but lately he’s getting neither. Then he’s assigned a job, one like he used to do for the government, except this job involves his past.

Avery Holton has butted heads with Nathan since they first met a year ago when he joined the staff of the PowerUp! gym. Nathan gets impressions from touching objects. Avery sees the future. Nathan is fun, loves men, and craves adventure like a drug. Avery likes discipline, is quiet but not closeted about his bisexuality, and does the job like a professional, a carryover from his days in the Marine Corps. Thrust together on a mission that links to Nathan’s childhood, the pair will have to learn to trust each other. It will take all their psychic skills and an acceptance of their growing love to defeat an evil out to get Nathan and everyone he loves…before it’s too late.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices, spanking.

Tamara’s Review:

Yippee! Just finished book 4 of the Power Up Series by the incomparable Ms. Harte. Fortune’s Favor should’ve come with a warning – hawter than a house on fire with just enough humor to tickle your funny bone! I don’t know if I panted or laughed more while reading Nathan’s tale. Once again Ms. Harte has gripped me by the throat and refused to let me go until I saw if Avery got his happy ending. (Personally if I were Avery, I would’ve brained Nathan with the nearest blunt object – stubborn a$$!)

While Avery and Nathan search for the villain who has managed to get his hands a blood thirsty blade, the sexual need built to unbelievable proportions. I couldn’t wait to see if Avery finally would give into the urge to have the playboy Nathan under him or not. I guess there’s something just absolutely sexy about a dominating quiet guy – you know the type – the thinker who’s quiet but you just know there’s something more going on under it all. Strong and silent, Avery is everything this reviewer would want in a hero. I will say however, please keep a hanky handy….there will be more than a few tears shed before Avery and Nathan can have their HEA.

Author Review: Whispered Words: A Power Up! Story by Marie Harte

Whispered Words: A Power Up! Story by Marie Harte
Series : Power Up, Book 3
Publisher: Loose-Id
Genre: Erotic, Contemporary, Interracial Romance, Menage
Length: 156 pages

Summary:

A casualty of funding wars and an overzealous Defense Department trying to clean up its reputation after several failed experimental programs, the Psychic Warfare Program (PWP) is scrapped in its infancy. Its participants are transferred to other defense agencies, but a few decide to leave the government behind, knowing full well their freedom hinges on keeping a low profile and living under the radar.

Chloe King has worked for the government ever since she left college. First as a cop, then as an agent, she’s been putting away the bad guys for more than ten years. A clairaudient who’s always been able to escape trouble at the last minute, she’s now part of a group of people who understand what it means to be different, but now she’s with a private organization, without the government’s protection. She should be working less dangerous cases, trying to retrieve paranormal objects gone missing. Yet her luck has taken a turn for the worse.

She’s just getting over being nearly murdered by a serial killer when a stalker nearly brings her down. The voices she’s heard more than half her life have disappeared, and she’s afraid her life is coming to an end. If she can’t hear those voices again, she’ll die. She can feel it. But she never counted on the voices being real. Or belonging to two strong, sexy men resolved to keep her for themselves.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: anal sex, menage (m/f/m with no m/m sexual contact), voyeurism.

Tamara’s Review:

It’s another winner from the extraordinary Ms.Harte. I loved seeing Chloe get her own story after watching the hell she raised with the other members of the Power Up! gym.

The author swept me up as usual with her wonderful plot from the very beginning by having Chloe in a deserted warehouse at the mercy of a deranged villain and having our heroes come on to the scene. Whispered Words was fast-paced and had lots of action as the twins, the men destined to be hers, sweep her not only off her feet, but also protected her. I love the connection that Ms. Harte built as Chloe dealt with her lover’s unique abilities and mirror images, particularly when Chloe accidentally tracks them down in a snowbound cabin. I found it very cool that the heroes of Whispered Words not only could communicate telepathically, but also felt what the other brother felt.

As usual this series has kept me interested from beginning to end and I can’t wait to read the next Power Up! book. I’m seriously hoping that Nathan’s book will be just as sizzling as Whispered Words. And now I’m off to read Fortune’s Favor!

Author Review: RetroCog by Marie Harte

RetroCog by Marie Harte
Series: A Power Up! Story
Publisher: Loose-Id
Genre: Erotic, Paranormal Romance, BDSM
Length: 115 pages

Summary:

A casualty of funding wars and an overzealous Defense Department trying to clean up its reputation after several failed experimental programs, the Psychic Warfare Program (PWP) is scrapped in the throes of its infancy. Its participants are transferred to other defense agencies, but a few decide to leave the government behind, knowing full well their freedom hinges on keeping a low profile and living under the radar.

Ex-PWP agent Noah First is grudgingly settling into life as a civilian when his boss assigns him one of those cases, like the ones he used to do for the government. Given the job of tracking down a stolen painting, Noah finds more than he bargained for when murder is involved. It’s his power to see the past in places where emotions run high, and when he tracks the painting down to a touristy mining town, he lands in serious trouble.

Not only does the town’s history shout at him with his every step, but he learns firsthand the room he’s renting used to be in a bordello, and the inn’s manager is the spitting image of the sexy woman in the painting. Noah is increasingly drawn to her, and to the dark needs he normally keeps buried. But are his intense feelings for Lara real, or just an echo of the past? And when he finds the painting, can he take it back to its rightful owner when someone in town will do whatever it takes to keep it, including murder?

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: some light bondage and D/s, and violence.

Tamara’s Review:

What can I say about the second book in Ms. Harte’s PowerUp! Series? That it is a sizzling piece of writing that nearly melted my e-reader! I loved every minute of reading RetroCog. It was everything I’ve come to expect from this author and more.

One of the key things I have noticed about Ms. Harte’s series is she creates characters that you almost feel are like family. And like all good series you get to see characters from the previous books, so it’s like a homecoming. When I read the first book, The Lost Locket, I was intrigued by Noah’s character, even as a secondary character. He was a behemoth of a man, yet unassuming. The expression, “still waters run deep” definitely applies to him. So I was ecstatic to see he got his own story. And even happier when I realized what the still waters were hiding. Not that I’m going to giveaway Ms. Harte’s plot here, but I will mention that he’s uber dominant in the bedroom as his lucky lady quickly finds out.

As I mentioned earlier, Ms. Harte is really good at creating characters we just fall in love with and I can safely say RetroCog’s cast is nothing to sniff at. Whether it’s the spunky ghost of Celicia Fine (the madame of the bordello, which has now been turned into a B&B), Frank – Lara’s right hand man (who isn’t all that he seems) or Chloe – Noah’s boss from the gym (who happens to have physic talents of her own), all these characters are vibrant and make you want to know their stories. While we find the answers to one, I still anxiously look forward to finding out if the other two find their own happily ever afters.

And even though I can’t rave enough about her complex characters, Ms. Harte doesn’t fall down on the job with the plots – after all it takes a great deal of creativity to even think up a Gym full of physic men and women who are leftover from a debunked military project, who now take cases from the private sector and somehow manage to find love at the same time. This series, along withRetroCog in particular are phenomenal. I consumed Noah and Lara’s story so fast I don’t think I even took time to eat. It was honestly that good. I had to know who the villain was and if Noah and Lara would end up together. And that folks is the mark of an excellent author and now if you’ll pardon me, I’m off to read the next book in the series, Whispered Words where Ms. Chloe gets her own tale.

Author Review: Hels’s Gauntlet by Heather Long

Hels’s Gauntlet by Heather Long
Publisher: Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Genre: Erotic Paranormal Romance, Menage
Length: Word Count 59,638

Summary:

After facing down the Wizarding Council and defeating their enemies, Helcyon, Cassandra, and Jacob have begun to find a balance in their triad. Cassie stunned her partners with news of her pregnancy, and the stakes are raised as the men must consider what potential her child will have. Government pressure increases, bombings disrupt Wizard and Fae business around the world, and splinter groups among the Fae make themselves known.

With the Danae on the hunt to bring Cassandra back to her side, Helcyon must block her every maneuver to shield his mate and best friend from a promise that dates back a thousand years. The shifting of oaths leads to the awakening of ancient powers, but history is unforgiving, and the arrival of Hels’s brother adds a new complication that could destroy their futures before they even begin. When a dangerous gambit forces Jacob and Helcyon to make hard choices, Cassie must trust that her lovers will survive the gauntlet.

Tamara’s Review:

So far I’ve read every book in the Forbidden Legacy series by Ms. Long, and I’m happy to say the final installment Hels’s Gauntlet was an excellent conclusion to the series. Over the past three books I’ve fallen in love with the cast of characters Ms. Long has created. In this installment, we get to see more into Hels’s character and what shaped him into the fae he is. And let me tell you, it was just as heart-wrenching as the glimpse I got of Jacob’s past in Jacob’s Trial So be warned – have a hanky ready because amidst all the plots and forces that are trying to conquer our triad in this book, the heart and soul of it is the relationship between Hels, Jacob and Cassandra, as they try to not only balance their relationship, but also build up the most important part of it – trust in one another.

As I mentioned above there is still treachery afoot. As the plot thickens and we head into the climax of the battle, new issues arise while old wounds are exposed and have to be dealt with. Ms. Long is a consummate storyteller who will keep you reading as fast as you can turn the pages, as she whisks you off to the final battle. As usual the world she has created only becomes more vivid and as a reader I found myself wanting to visit “Underhill”, particularly the Brownies’ village. I will have to give Ms. Long high marks for blending the Underhill with our mortal realm and making it seem realistic. She has balanced the time spent in both worlds beautifully.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend this whole series to any avid, erotic, paranormal reader. It is well done, but a word to the wise. For the most bang for your buck, read them in order! They can stand alone, but you’ll get sooo much more out of them if you follow the triad’s journey from the beginning. I know I did.

One legacy may unite them…

Helcyon and Jacob are determined to keep the woman they love safe, but danger lurks at every turn and the old ways threaten their future.

Tamara’s Review:

Wowza! I devoured Jacob’s Trial even faster than I did Cassandra’s Dilemma Ms. Long definitely knows how to get a reader’s attention and hold it. This book picked up directly where the first one left off. (While I can suggest you read these in order for the most enjoyment, the author has done a wonderful job building up the backstory that you don’t have to read them in order.) Once again we’re whisked into Ms. Long’s world and this time there is even more action going on than the human eating monster from the first book. I love how fast-paced Jacob’s Trial is, and how intricately Ms. Long weaves her storylines.

If it weren’t for the sizzling sex between the three of them, I’d say Jacob’s Trial almost belongs in the action/adventure/fantasy category at Barnes and Noble. I was once again caught up in the world this talented author created and I find myself rooting for Hal, Jacob and Cassandra to find a way to live happily ever after. Now I’m not going to even hint at the ending of this story but I will say, if I could’ve found Ms. Long I would have gleefully choked her for the next story. Luckily for me, it’s sitting on the top of my to be read pile as we speak, so Ms. Long is entirely safe for the time being. Unless of course, she does something dastardly in Hal’s Gauntlet….then I can’t promise anything.

All kidding aside folks, I really do recommend this book. The author has continued with her delightful yet riveting world with such complex characters, I found myself reading long past my bedtime just to find out what happened. So please do me a favor – if you like series books, and love paranormal with a sizzling hot menage-a-trois take a chance and pick up one of the Forbidden Legacy books. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Tamara’s Review:

I’m so glad that I read this book first before reading Jacob’s Trial! In fact, I actually read the first page and realized I had the second book and had to go back and get the first book. And let me tell you, I’m not sorry I did. Cassandra’s Dilemma is a great start to Ms. Long’s Forbidden Legacy series. This first book has it all, fae, wizards, a demon who is after the heroine and even an unlikely wizard’s sidekick who are battling an unknown villain who wants nothing more than to end Cassandra’s life. I won’t give away Ms. Long’s plot, but I have to say I think I fell a bit in love with Domoir, Jacob’s Glashtyn, along with Cassandra.

The plot and subplots of Cassandra’s Dilemma kept me totally entranced until I had to finish the book. I read it in less than two days, which is a feat considering the back to school madness at my house during the time. Considering that I love sci-fi, it takes a bit to impress me but the world which Ms. Long created for this triad was impressive. I felt like I was reading an Ann McCaffery book with a naughty twist, so I have to say kudos to Ms. Long as I’m off to start Jacob’s Trial.

Author Review: Dark Nights by Christine Feehan

Dark Nights by Christine Feehan
Series: Dark
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Imprint: Avon
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers
Length: 432 pages

Summary:

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan revisits and expands her classic novella Dark Descent, bringing to breathtaking new life her story of an immortal Carpathian hunter, a beautiful adventurer, and their dangerous journey toward an unforeseen destiny and an undying love.

In a cave of mystery and wonder deep in the Carpathian Mountains, bodyguard Joie Sanders encounters a most remarkable being. Proud, strong, immortal, he is called Traian—an ageless hunter locked in a life-and-death battle with enemy vampires—and he will be her salvation in a labyrinth protected by the ingenious traps of a mysterious ancient race. What awaits them in the darkness is not known, and each step could be their last—as their destined path leads them toward a fiery passion that will illuminate the perilous dark night.

Also includes the previously published Carpathian short story Dark Dream.

Tamara’s Review:

First let me say, I’ve always been a Christine Feehan fan and I literally jumped for joy when I got the opportunity to read and review Dark Nights. I was absolutely ecstatic, since as a fan I’d read both stories that are included in this duet, Dark Descent and Dark Dream. I was really interested to see what Ms. Feehan had changed in Dark Descent and I can say Ms. Feehan didn’t disappoint. The changes she made not only gave me as a reader – a better, even more clear story revolving around Traian and Joie, but she’s also added a lushness this reviewer has come to expect from her later books such as Dark Slayer.

I’m sooo happy she took the time to update Dark Descent. She gave me a much better picture of how this particular story fits in with the other novels that come later in the series. It let me see more of the strength and vulnerability that Triain has and how strong and feisty his lifemate Joie is. It also gave more insight to the world of the mages. But Ms. Feehan wasn’t done – by building her secondary characters like Joie’s brother, Jubal, and her sister, Gabrielle, and of course the irresistible Gary – a true man of science and a man after my own heart, I was once again whisked into their world. I found myself wondering idly if Ms. Feehan may one day have a romantic tryst or two between Gabrielle and Gary. Or perhaps she has – and it’s in one of her other books that I haven’t had the pleasure yet of reading? If she has, I’m sure I’ll find it.

As far as Dark Dream – I have a confession to make: the original was the first book I had ever read of Ms. Feehan’s. After reading Sara and Falcon’s story in the anthology Dark Dreamers, I was bitten by the Carpathian bug and had to go out and find every other book in the series. As a result Dark Dream has held a place in my heart for a long time. By having the chance to re-read this short story, I was immediately reminded of my introduction to Ms. Feehan’s world of Carpathian warriors and Vampires and why I fell in love with it in the first place. It is a sweet romantic story with enough spice to the point that I was torn between panting and crying once more as I lived through what Falcon endured to find his sweet Sara and how they made it work.

In the end, I have to give this book one of my highest ratings. Whether you’re a die-hard fan like me, or just being introduced to this series, Dark Nights is an excellent example of the phenomenal writing style of Ms. Feehan and well worth the read.

Author Review: Giving It Up by Amber Lin

Giving It Up by Amber Lin
Publisher: Loose-Id
Genre: BDSM, Contemporary, Erotic Romance
Length: Novel Plus

Summary:

Allie prowls the club for a man who will use her hard and then ditch her. Hey, it’s not rape if she wants it. Instead she finds Colin, who looks tough but treats her tenderly, despite her protests.

He tempts her, but kindness and a few mindblowing orgasms aren’t enough to put her back together again. Allie has no hope for a real relationship. Two years ago her best friend betrayed her in the worst possible way–she’d be stupid to trust a man again. Besides, she has her daughter to think of, the only good thing to have come from that dark night.

But when her rapist returns, threatening her sanity and custody of her daughter, Allie turns to Colin. Under his protection and patient touch, Allie begins to heal and learns to hope. Colin’s no saint, though, and his criminal past draws danger of its own. Allie must fight to protect her child and the man she loves, hoping her newfound power will be enough to save them all.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: dubious consent.

Tamara’s Review :

This reviewer has never reviewed a book by Amber Lin before and I picked up Giving It Up because it sounded different than the books I usually read. And I was right. This book isn’t for people who want a fairytale romance. It’s gritty and down right dirty at times. The heroine does things that would cause most romantics to throw the book against a wall, but throughout the book Allie is consistent in her reasoning. There’s no wishy-washy with her character. With that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed it, after I got used to the first person point of view perspective. It had plenty of action…and the characters. Lord, let me tell you about the characters.

I honestly don’t know which character I fell in love with the most: Allie’s precocious daughter Bailey, her hooking best friend, Shelly, or her tarnished night in armor, Collin. The fact that none of these characters were storybook perfect is what made them perfect for the story. Not even the heroine was perfect. She made her fair share of mistakes and readily acknowledges them without any whining excuses. Simply put, Giving It Up is very realistic and was a book that I couldn’t put down. I even shed a few tears – well more than a few tears in the process, so I guess this should come with a hankie warning. So if you’re looking for something that’s a bit different and doesn’t fit the cookie cutter mold of erotic romance, give Giving It Up a spin.

Author Review: Manbot by Scarlet Blackwell

Manbot by Scarlet Blackwell
Publisher: Silver Publishing
Genre: GLBT, M/M, Sci-Fi, Erotic Romance
Length: 135 pages

Summary:

Every home in the US now owns a housebot. The robots have revolutionised modern society, but were they made to fulfil all human desires?

When his friend, Mitchell, expresses sexual interest in his manbot, it sets Gray Benedict to thinking about his own hotbot, Kavan, a six foot three powerhouse made to obey Gray’s every command. Gray doesn’t want to take advantage of a machine, but when Kavan makes it clear he’s happy to serve his owner in every possible way, what’s a man supposed to do?

CONTENT ADVISORY: This titles has a HFN ending.

Tamara’s Review:

Ms. Blackwell’s latest release, Manbot is a fast little read that has one helluva a punch. I was quickly drawn into Gray’s world with his manbot, Kavan. Ms. Blackwell has created a very emotional plot as the most likely of circumstances happen when a human falls for his robot. While the sex is steaming in this book, I will have to say the emotional uphevel that Gray encounters as he tries to accept his own needs for the forbidden is more fascinating. And if that wasn’t enough to keep my interest, this author has to throw in outside issues that only adds to Gray’s turmoil.

Ms. Blackwell has built a very strong character in Gray and I thoroughly enjoyed his journey from the beginning stages of his relationship to his final acceptance of it. I won’t give away Ms. Blackwell’s plot, but I will tell you that this little novella is well worth the read, especially if you love a dash of sci-fi with your m/m stories.
